VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Do you have an hour or two to
spare? Just once a year, once a month or once a week? NAMI-Yolo has many
opportunities to help in many programs. Some need a lot of people just
once a year. Other needs are ongoing.

Volunteers are the core of our
organization. Please lend a hand and help NAMI-Yolo continue
to offer the education, advocacy and support that are so important to the
individuals and their loved ones in our community who live with mental
illness.

Yolo CAN-Do
Volunteers help plan and lead refreshments, conversations, and
activities ranging from exercise & sports to arts & crafts, music &
drama at Homestead Coop in East Davis. A senior mentor always
accompanies less experienced volunteers. Schedule is 12:30-2:30pm on 1st
& 3rd Thursdays, 2nd & 4th Fridays of the month.
Ways to Help
- Provide refreshments.
- Introduce table talk topics and keep
conversations going.
- Suggest and lead after-lunch
activity - toss a ball, call Bingo.
- Play guitar or piano to accompany
Sing-Along (folk song books provided).
- Lead warm-up exercises and
entry-level dancercise (hip hop abs DVD provided).
- Lead book club, entry-level drama or
play-reading group.
- Organize and manage a ping-pong
tournament (equipment provided).
- Organize and manage a fashion show
(from thrift store choices).
- Experienced volunteers might also
help escort groups to such community events as the Wednesday night
Davis Farmers Market concerts.
